The Department of Business Administration, St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor, Mangalore inaugurated “SJEC-MBA Special Lecture Series” on Friday 10th October, 2008 at 3:15 pm. Dr M. S. Moodithaya, Director, Justice K. S. Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte inaugurated the program and gave a lecture on ‘Corporate Philanthropy’. Dr Prakash Pinto, Dean MBA welcomed the guests. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal SJEC was the guest of honour. Rev. Fr Valerian D’Souza, Director SJEC gave the presidential address. Prof. A J Hegde, Dean Academics was also present.
Dr M. S. Moodithaya in his Lecture spoke on how Indian economy has grown over the last 20 years. He differentiated between charity and philanthropy and stressed that corporate India should mix business with philanthropy. Companies therefore must create wealth and then give it back to the society.
The Department of Business Administration, St Josephs Engineering College, strives to endow the students with knowledge of the contemporary topics and awareness of the trends in the economy, market, industry and practices of the corporate world. The department has constituted a series of guest lectures by renowned speakers from both the corporate and academic world to realize this endeavour. This facilitates the students to gain from their expertise, knowledge and experiences. The aim is to go beyond the academic curriculum and instill in the students the conceptual knowledge, corporate know-how and entrepreneurial attitude.
