Orientation program for First Year MBA students

Two days orientation program was conducted for the First Semester MBA students on 25th and 26th of September, 2009. Prof. Eric Patrao, Dean Planning and Development, SJEC spoke about the importance of listening and working in a team.
Dr Anjali Ganesh, Associate Professor, Department of Business Administration, SJEC spoke on how practice and dedication can lead to success.

SJEC - MBA & MCA Classes Inaugurated

First year MBA and MCA classes were inaugurated on 25th September 2009 at Bethania Hall, St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor, Mangalore.
The Chief guest Lt. Col John N. Serrao, Administrator, Ex-servicemen Polyclinic, Jeppu, Mangalore in his inaugural address stated that the students should inculcate leadership skills along with a sense of responsibility and achieve academic excellence. He further urged the students to develop positive attitude towards accomplishing their goals.



Dr Joseph Gonsalves, Prinicipal, SJEC, gave inputs to the students in terms of Entrepreneurship and Motivation. He also added that the top priority of the college was to impart knowledge to the students by conducting classes regularly .
Rev. Fr Valerian D' Souza,Director SJEC in his presidential address spoke about motto of the Visvesvaraya Technological University i.e. “Modalu Manavanagu” and called the students to be good human beings. Students should work hard and achieve excellence in their life, he added.
Students who were the toppers in PGCET, MAT and KMAT entrance tests were felicitated.
Dr Prakash Pinto, Dean MBA, welcomed the gathering and Prof. Damien D' Mello, Dean Computing Sciences, proposed vote of thanks.
Assistant Director Rev. Fr Henry Mascarenhas, Dean Planning and Development - Prof. Eric Patrao were present on the dais. The programme was attended by HOD's, Staff and the First Year Students of MBA and MCA along with their parents. Ms Laveena Maria Sequeira ,Senior Lecturer Department of Business Administration compered the programme.


Refreshments were served to the gathering.

The MBA and MCA classes for the academic year 2009-10 will be inaugurated on Friday, 25th September, 2009 at 10:00 am in the SJEC Bethania Hall. Lt Col John N Serrao (Administrator, Ex Servicemen Polyclinic, Jeppu, Mangalore) will be the chief guest and Rev. Fr Valerian D’Souza (Director, SJEC) will preside over the function.

Rendition - A State level Paper Presentation Contest


In order to sustain the march of present situation, the world today needs an immense amount of knowledge and information. To provide fodder for future breakthroughs and keep the wheel of growth spinning, Genesis – The Forum of MBA students intends to conduct its First State Level Paper Presentation Contest for the M.B.A. students across the Karnataka State on 6 October, 2009.

A paper presentation is the means through which the M.B.A students can share their insights, findings by putting forth a formal account of the detailed study carried out by them. Rendition is the explanation and interpretation of the concept and the cram of the subject will boost the knowledge to create an errand towards success. It is for all the ignited minds who believe in the use of their cerebral expertise as ammunition for contribution to the development of the business world. If one amalgamates harnesses and unleashes the massive ravaging power of thinking units residing in the billions of heads, one can transform the world. gives a platform to present the papers to enrich knowledge and an excellent opportunity for demonstrating competent and innovative talents.Invitation for Participation

The colleges are invited to send a team of three delegates (other than the paper presenters) to participate in Rendition – 09 with a fee of Rs 100/- per head.

Guidelines for the Paper Presentation Contest

1. The competition is open to all management students from all recognized institutes and universities in the State.

2. Any number of entries can be submitted from a single management institute in different specialization areas.

3. Co – authored papers will not be accepted.

4. There is no entry fee for the paper presenters.

5. Plagiarism should be avoided

6. E-mail the soft copy of the full paper at rendition.paperpresentation@gmail.com by 20th September, 2009.

7. After preliminary screening, the selected paper presenters will be notified personally through email by 25th September, 2009.

8. The final presentation will be held on 6th October, 2009 at St. Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore.

9. The time allotted for the presentation will be 15 + 5 minutes.

10. The final presentation should be made in Microsoft Power Point only.

11. The decision of the organizers of the contest and the panel of judges will be final and binding on all participants.

Format for Full Paper

· Typing: 1.5 line spacing on A4 sized paper.

· Font: Times New Roman, Size 12.

· Margins: 1.5" (left) and 1"(right).

· Aligned and Justified

· Limit: 10 to 12 pages (Including Bibliography)

· The full paper should include -

ü First page should furnish title of the paper, area of specialization, authors

names, name of the institute, email id and phone numbers of the authors.

ü Abstract should not exceed 350 words

ü Bibliography
