MBA Course Content:
The curriculum and the syllabus of the MBA programme is prescribed by Visvesvaraya Technological University Belgaum. In addition to the common courses the following specialisation streams are offered.
1. Marketing
2. Finance
3. Human Resource Management

Pedagogy:
The pedagogy includes a balanced mix of case analysis, group discussions, presentations, seminars, role-plays and lecture sessions which provide for intense intellectual stimulation and development of managerial skills.
Faculty:

The department has 1:10.5 faculty:student ratio which is one of the highest in the region.


SJEC-MBA Special Lecture Series:
Guest lectures are organised periodically to supplement the classroom teaching. Experts from industry and academia are invited to deliver lectures on contemporary management topics and industry practices. These lectures provide a wide exposure to the students on the existing practices and emerging concepts and help them to face the dynamic business environment with confidence.

SJEC Gavel Club:
SJEC Gavel Club has been granted the status of Gavel Club by the Toastmasters International on 1st Jan, 2010. Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of meeting locations. Its headquarters is located in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, the organization has more than 250,000 members in more than 12,500 clubs in 106 countries.

Industry - Institute interaction
To improve the interactions between the industry and academia MOU has been signed between Kanara Small Industries Association and St Joseph Engineering College. Students would get practical experience in the enterprises by industrial visits, projects, working part time in the organisation even to the extent of setting up their own units after their professional course.

Industrial Visits:
Industrial visits are organised to acquaint the students with the actual organisational environment where they interact with the employees and the management. These visits provide the students with the much needed exposure to the practical aspects.

Genesis:
The Forum of MBA students which conducts activities like Rendition a paper presentation competition.

Zephyr:
Zephyr is a National Level P G Management Fest organised by the Department of Business Administration, St Joseph Engineering College. It’s a platform for the MBA students to perform and to test their mettle against contemporaries for corporate and real time experiences to be tomorrow’s ethically responsive and accountable leader.


Support Facilities:

Library:
The department has a spacious library having an excellent collection of latest books, magazines, journals and periodicals on Management. The library remains open for nearly 12 hours on all working days for the benefit of students and faculty. Apart from the department library the students have access to the central library of the Engineering College for traditional and digital references. The college has also subscribed to online journals like Emerald Insight for the students to understand the relevant research topics and working papers.

Computer Lab:
The department has a separate computer lab with Internet connectivity of 10MBPS speed. The department is also a Wi-Fi hot-spot which lets the students connect to the internet. The lab is well equipped with the latest technology. The computers are installed with the latest softwares like Tally, SPSS, LaTeX, etc

Placement and Training Cell:
The college has a creditable placement record. The Placement and Training Cell is headed by a qualified and experienced Placement Officer. The Cell conducts regular training programmes for personality development, entrepreneurship development etc. and assists the students for final placement.

Personality Development Activities:
Workshops and training on soft skills and personality development are arranged with reputed management consultants to map the personality profile of students, identify their strengths and weaknesses and provide specialised training to correct any deficiency. Recognising the need and importance of effective communication in Management, specialised programmes on communication skills are conducted regularly for all the students. These sessions involve extensive use of interactive and practise oriented training to develop skills and build up confidence.
