Workshop on Savings Investment & Capital Markets
As part of the Special Lecture Series of the Department of Business Administration a workshop on 'Saving, Investment & Capital Markets' was organised by National Stock Exchange of India on Thursday, 15th April, 2010 at 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm for MBA Students in the SJEC Bethania Hall. The session was taken by Mr R. K. Bhat and Mr Madhusudhan Bhat.
The workshop concluded with an interactive question answer session.
Dr Prakash Pinto, Dean MBA., Faculty members of Department of Business Administration and MBA students were present for the workshop.

Finale of Zephyr 10

Zephyr 10, the Second P. G. Management Fest of St Joseph Engineering College was successfully completed on 9th April, 2010. Rev. Dr Eugene Lobo, Former Principal of St Aloysius College, Mangalore and in-charge of English Section, Vatican Radio was the chief guest of the function.
Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal, SJEC presided over the function.
Rev. Fr Valerian D’ Souza, Director, SJEC., Dr Prakash Pinto, Dean MBA., Nelson Castalino, Student Coordinator were also present on the dais. Ms Lorraine Joan Rosario lecturer, SJEC- MBA welcomed the gathering and Ms Smitha Jesudasan, Faculty Coordinator, Zephyr 10 proposed the vote of thanks.

Zephyr 10 Inaugurated
‘Zephyr-10’ a two-day national level PG management fest organized by the Department of Business Administration of St Joseph Engineering College Vamanjoor, was inaugurated on Wednesday, April 8th 2010.


The function was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr John Wilfred Lobo, M.D Albertsons International Private Ltd. He addressed the gathering and spoke about the Economic Revival and gave a picture about the present economic situation in India. He said that the domestic consumption and income in India is high. He highlighted the present monetary situation of India and said that present economic consumption of India has been least effected by the Global recession due to our strong monetary policy. He advised the faculty of our college to interlink the theory from the books with practical knowledge.

Dr Aloysius Sequeira, Professor, Department of Humanities, Social Science and Management, NITK, Surathkal and the member of the Governing Board SJEC presided over the function. His speech focused on four words that are; Zephyr, Globalization, Economy and Management Education. He said there are two important Drivers of economy which are People and Knowledge. The right people with right knowledge are needed in present economic situation. He concluded with a mantra: “the right People who are Motivated will use their Creativity to reduce the Cost”.

Rev. Fr Valerian D’Souza, Director and Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal of St Joseph Engineering College were the Guest of Honors. Rev. Fr Valerian D’ Souza Director wished all the participants to enrich their selves and take up responsibilities in these two days to make Zephyr-10 a wonderful success. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal, advised the participants to be self sufficient and self driven to be successful.
Fr Henry Mascarenhas, Asst. Director St Joseph Engineering College, Ms Smitha Jesudasan, Faculty Coordinator, were present on the dais. The Masters of Ceremony for the function were Ms Mita and Mr Ivon of 1st year MBA. Dr Prakash Pinto, Dean MBA, SJEC, welcomed the gathering and Nelson Castelino proposed the vote of thanks.
The students from 12 Colleges are participating in Zephyr–10.

Zephyr 2010
The Department of Business Administration, St Joseph Engineering College, is pleased to announce its second P.G. Management fest for the MBA students on 8th and 9th April, 2010.
Zephyr is a soft gentle wind which will rekindle the festivities of the management fest with an air of creativity. Bringing together students from B Schools all over India will create that much needed competitive environment, convenient to display one’s skills and make them visible to the renowned panelists representing the corporate world and academia.
Zephyr 10 is a celebration of business acumen, intellect and knowledge amalgamated with a new gusto to move ahead towards a new world, which brightens the way we think. It’s a platform for the MBA students to perform and to test their mettle against contemporaries for corporate and real time experiences to be tomorrow’s ethically responsive and accountable leader.

College Day 2010
The College day of St Jospeh Engineering College, Vamanjoor, Mangalore was conducted on the feast day of St Joseph, 19th March, 2010. Ms Mabel Rebello, member, Rajya Sabha, was the chief guest for the function and D K Jain, senior vice-president, Lanco Infratech was the Guest of honour.Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore and president of SJEC, presided over the function. Rebello and Jain honoured the achievers in various sports and games activities as well as toppers in academic studies by presenting trophies and certificates.
Fr Valerian D’Souza, Director of SJEC, welcomed the gathering. Prof Jayakar Hegde, principal in charge of the college, presented the annual report. Fr Henry Mascarenhas, assistant director of the college, and Prof Eric Patravo, dean of the college, were also present.
Cultural and musical programmes after the formal function were presented by the student.

St Joseph Engineering College, Department of Business Administration takes great pleasure inviting academicians and industry delegates to participate in our forthcoming National Conference 2010. The conference will take place in Mangalore, India on April 29th and 30th 2010.
