8 Mentos worth Thousand Rupees at St Joseph Engineering College

Inspired by the www.oneredpaperclip.com the students of the second year MBA (HR & Marketing specialization) bartered 8 Mentos worth 50 ps each for products worth more than thousand rupees within 2 hours. In an exercise conducted as a part of SJEC MBA Tutorial on Saturday, September 18, 2010 between 12:00 to 2:00pm at St Joseph Engineering College campus, Vamanjoor, Mangalore. Mr Peter Brian Benjamin, Lecturer., Mr Chaco P. J., Lecturer, and Mr Suraj Francis Noronha, Lecturer, St Joseph Engineering College conducted the exercise.
The students had a practical exercise on negotiation, communication and identified the basic principles of a business. The Final products which the students got were: Yardley, eva and axe perfume, mementos and paperweights, blank DVD’s, harddisk, scissors, folders, coffee mugs, CD Rom drive, sandals, vegetable seeds and other products. The winners of the competition were Mr Shivaraj A V Shetty, Ms Manisha D Kaup, and Ms Naziya and they were rewarded with the products that they had bartered.

Orientation Program for First Year MBA Students

Two day orientation program was organised on 13th and 14th September, 2010 at the Department for the 2010-12 batch of MBA students. The sessions were taken by: Dr Anjali Ganesh, Prof. B. V. Raghunandan, Dr Prakash Pinto, Ms Felcy D'Souza (Librarian), Peter Brain Benjamin and Suraj Francis Noronha.

Teachers Day Celebrated in SJEC

The students of Second year MBA celebrated Teachers Day on 6th September, 2010. Ivon Mendonca spoke about the importance of the day. Dr Prakash Pinto (Dean MBA), Dr Anjali Ganesh and others faculty members were present for the program. Refreshments were served after the program.

In-house FDP on LaTeX

A 7 day in-house FDP on LaTeX was organised by the Department of Business Administration, SJEC on LaTeX: A document preparation program from 23rd August to 31st August, 2010 at the SJEC-MBA Computer Lab. Around 25 faculty members participated in the program. Suraj Francis Noronha was the coordinator and the resource for the FDP.
